Jensen Wenatchee, WA June Molly Jensen, age 96, of Wenatchee, WA, died on Saturday, August 27, 2011, at her Wenatchee home. She was born June 6, 1915, to Mary Ellen and John Morgan Wilson at their ranch at Indian Dan Canyon-about six miles outside Brewster, WA. June was the youngest and longest living of their 11 children. After attending elementary school at Brewster, she moved with her mother to Oroville and graduated in 1934. Moving to Wenatchee, she attended Wenatchee Business College and was employed as a payroll and employment clerk for Skookum. In the 1960's and 70's, she returned to work as a lab technician at the Experiment Station's Pesticide Lab near her home. In November of 1940, she married Norman K. Jensen and they had two children, Eric and Nancy. In 1946, after Norman's return from World War II, they began building their home on Springwater in Wenatchee and spent over 50 years perfecting their house, gardening and developing a small orchard. Together on their 1.5 acre plot, they raised a huge array of vegetables and flowers, along with prize winning peaches and apples. In 2004, June moved to Conifers Mobile Home Park, where she found a wonderful environment of new neighbors and friends to supplement her special coffee group at Target. As a parent, June was a Cub Scout leader, the Lewis & Clark PTA President and a volunteer for community activities such as Morse Little League Ball Park and Lewis & Clark grass play area. June and Norman always treasured the fact that their nuclear and extended family members remained in the Northwest, many in the Wenatchee and Okanogan valleys. They were both constant participants in the lives of their children and grandchildren, as well as other family members and lifelong friends. The support and love she shared with others was returned in so many thoughtful and giving ways during all of the years of her life. June, an avid reader, had an amazingly sharp mind and knack for memorization. Until the very end, she loved to tell and enjoy a good joke. It was poetry that revealed her special gift. There were many poems she could recite upon request and these gave her, her friends and family much enjoyment. June was preceded in death by her son, Eric, in 2003; and by her husband, Norman, in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jensen of Seattle/Wenatchee; her daughter-in-law, Myrna Mahugh Jensen of Wenatchee; three grandchildren, Koll Jensen of Seattle, Marya and husband, Brooks Stanfield of Burien, Todd and wife, Michelle Jensen of Bend, OR; and three great-grandchildren, Carmen and Desmond Stanfield and Soraya Jensen; along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to: Jeanette Petersen and Melanie Salter for their volunteered assistance with June's care; Dr. Peter Rutherford, Tracy Carter and their staff at the Wenatchee Valley Clinic. A very special thank you to the Hospice Nurse Corey Martin (a man who never made a visit without a new joke for June) and all the nurses and aides with Hospice. With a wink and a smile, Junebug left us to join her family. A Celebration of June's many gifts to us will occur on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at 324 Whitebirch Place in Wenatchee. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice at Central Washington Hospital, The Eric C. Jensen Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of NCW or to a charity of the giver's choice.
