Description	:	Norman Blachford Norman L. Blachford, 65, Miller, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1987 at his home. Norman L. Blachford was born August 30, 1921, on a farm near Orient where he grew up. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1938. He married Irene Smith November 21, 1943. They lived on a farm south of Miller. She died in December, 1955. He continued farming until 1964 when he moved to Miller and became custodian at the First National Bank, where he worked until August of 1986. He married Esther Almond September... Read More	Norman Blachford Norman L. Blachford, 65, Miller, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1987 at his home. Norman L. Blachford was born August 30, 1921, on a farm near Orient where he grew up. He graduated from Faulkton High School in 1938. He married Irene Smith November 21, 1943. They lived on a farm south of Miller. She died in December, 1955. He continued farming until 1964 when he moved to Miller and became custodian at the First National Bank, where he worked until August of 1986. He married Esther Almond September 21, 1968 in Pierre. He was a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood and the Old Time Fiddlers. He played guitar and fiddle at dances since high school. He also participated in the Old Time Fiddlers contests in Yankton. He is survived by his wife of Miller; one son, David Blachford, Miller; five stepchildren, Kathleen Stanphill, Virleen Brown, both of Sonora, CA, Preston Almond, Liberal, KS, Rick Almond, Pacific, MO and Marsha Swartz, Tescott, KS; 20 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother and one daughter. The funeral was 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller, with the Rev.
