Description	:	Norman R. Evans, 88 of Gordon, Nebraska died March 31, 2013, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington, Wyo. He was born in Rushville, to Robert T. Evans (deceased) and Mary C. Furman-Evans on September 29, 1924. He spent his early years on the Furman ranch, south of Rushville, due to the untimely death of his father. Ehlers on July 2,... Read More	Norman R. Evans, 88 of Gordon, Nebraska died March 31, 2013, at the Goshen Care Center in Torrington, Wyo. He was born in Rushville, to Robert T. Evans (deceased) and Mary C. Furman-Evans on September 29, 1924. He spent his early years on the Furman ranch, south of Rushville, due to the untimely death of his father. In his late teens Norman enlisted in the Army and spent two tours in Hawaii and Europe during World War II. Once honorably discharged he returned to Gordon where he met and married Bonny W. Ehlers on July 2, 1947. In his early career, Norman drove a taxi, propane truck and wrecker. He also worked as a mechanic for the Chevy garage before opening his own business, “Norm’s Repair Shop”. Through this business he was able to serve many community members and provide for his family. During his early years, Norman enjoyed flying. He used personal time, logging hours out of the Gordon, Chadron and Mitchell airports. Later, Norman spent endless hours at the lake with his family, boating, fishing and picnicking. He was also known to “tolerate” his children and their many friends as he fixed their wrecked mini bikes, transported them to motorcycle races and pulled their cars out of trees with very few words. One of Norm’s interests was football. He took great pride in his grandson’s accomplishments traveling to most of their college games, no matter how far, to support them. Norman was preceded in death by his mother and father, and half-sister Anita Taylor and his beloved pet, Bruce. Norman is survived by; his wife of 65 years, Bonny W. Ehlers-Evans, his half-brother Jim Taylor, four children and their spouses; Michael Evans and wife Sonya of Idaho Falls, ID, Norena Robinson of Rock Port, MO, Tom Evans and wife Debbie of Gordon, Mary Smock and husband Tim of Torrington, WY. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Graveside services with Military Honors was held Friday, April 5, 2013, 2:00 PM at the Gordon Cemetery.
