At the time of his passing, Norris was surrounded with all his children, some grandchildren and great-grandchildren, at his home in Bridgeport, WA. Norris was born on August 22, 1930, in Monse, WA to Agnes Whistoken and Eddie Palmanteer Sr. Norris graduated from Brewster High School in 1950, where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He was also a member of the infamous "Monse Monsters," which included his brother, Eddie, and his friends, Ike Cawston, Earl Marchand, Monte Moomaw and Gary Patterson. Norris worked for the Colville Confederated Tribe/Indian Health Service for over 50 years, in various positions and also spent two terms on the Colville Confederated Tribal Council. Norris was a Golden Age Eagle member of the Aerie #2577 in Grand Coulee. He had a great sense of humor and had a reputation of being the best dressed native on the reservation. Norris enjoyed going to the rodeo and listening to "old" country music. He also loved his cars; his first one was a 1936 Roadster convertible and his last car was a 1993 Mustang convertible. One of his greatest pleasures was watching his grandchildren play in any sport. Norris also enjoyed billiards, darts and bowling. He had a love for golf and, when Norris was the administrator at the tribe, he changed the starting time to 7:30 a.m., so he could make his tee time in Wilbur! He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Donalee Mary Palmanteer; and his daughter, Lynda C. Ratcliff; as well as his brother, Eddie Palmanteer, Jr.; and his nephew, Eddie Palmanteer III. Norris is survived by six children, Madonna Palmanteer of Twisp, WA, Fordean Palmanteer of Spokane, WA, Carrie Holland and her husband, Jim of Torrance, CA, Norris Palmanteer of Chandler, AZ, Tina Palmanteer of Bridgeport, WA and Marty Palmanteer and his wife, Rose of Omak, WA. Norris was very proud of the fact that he had 24 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. In November of last year, Norris' family got together in Okanogan at the Armory and he had the pleasure of having the majority of his large family together in one place. There were 144 in attendance. Norris is also survived by his two brothers, Richard and Monte; and three sisters, Connie, Delores and Ina Mae. Rosary will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010, at the Omak Longhouse at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at the Longhouse on Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., with the Burial held at Fort Okanogan Cemetery. Norris' pallbearers will be his eight oldest granddaughters, Tanya Wold, Sherelle Palmanteer, Shonita Ratcliff, Amanda Palmanteer, Amber Palmanteer, AB Ratcliff, Ami Palmanteer and Jerilyn Ratcliff. His honorary pallbearers will be his remaining granddaughters, April Palmanteer, Morgan Palmanteer, Lauren Swan, Mercedes Palmanteer, Taylor Palmanteer and Ella Palmanteer. Please join Norris' family for dinner after the burial at the Omak Longhouse. Arrangements by Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. His biggest joys were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad, you will live forever in our hearts.
