Mr Lee, formerly of 78 Brae Street, died suddenly at the Almonte General Hospital on Thursday, June 8th, 1978. He was 84 years of age. Born in Lavant Township on February 22, 1894, son of the late Thomas Lee and his wife, Margaret Paul, he received his elementary education in schools of the area before moving on to further his education at business college in Kingston, Ontario. He first entered the hardware business at Lanark Village, running a store there in partnership with his brotherin- law, Mr Allie Stewart until 1925 when he came to Almonte and bought the present store on Mill Street from the Knight Brothers. The business flourished and a number of expansions programs were carried out through the years. In latter years after management of the store had been assumed by his son, Stewart, Mr Lee became semi-retired and was seen about the store only during the summer months. He was known to his many friends as "N.S.". Having been active in the community for many years, Mr Lee was a charter member of the Almonte Lions Club when it was formed in 1947 and was a member of the Mississippi Lodge. He attended Almonte United Church. Mr Lee was predeceased by his first wife, the former Mary Stewart who died in 1964. They had one son, Stewart. He married again in October 1967, in Toronto to the former Anne Morrison who survives. Also surviving along with his son Stewart, are grandchildren Gordon and Kathy (Mrs Dale Lusk) of Ottawa. He was predeceased by a brother, John, and two sisters, Elsie Barrie and Clara Wilson. Funeral services for Mr Lee were held at the Kerry Funeral Home, 154 Elgin street, Almonte, on Saturday, June 10, at 2 p.m., Rev Robert McCrea officiating. Interment was at Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Len Baird, Jim Ford, Bob Hill, Matthew Newton, Claire Campbell and Steve Campbell.
