Description	:	Norfolk Daily News - March 22, 2014 BATTLE CREEK — Services for Odetta L. Roewert, 91, of Battle Creek will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Snow will officiate with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Steffen Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Roewert died Friday, March 21, 2014, at the Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek. ——— Odetta was born Nov. 23, 1922, at Battle Creek, the daughter of John and Martha (Fenske) Bredehoft. She attended the St. John parochial school and then graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1940. Odetta married Clea P. Roewert on July 6, 1941, at Battle Creek. She and her husband farmed east of Battle Creek where she was known for raising and dressing chickens and her extensive vegetable and flower gardens. She and Clea moved to the Community Pride Care Center in 2008. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church and its ladies aid and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the American Legion auxilliary of Battle Creek and the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxilliary of Norfolk. Odetta is survived by her daughter, Cleone Warden of Plainview; son Dennis (LaDonna) Roewert of Battle Creek; and three grandchildren, Tonja and Dennis Hofmann, Cody Roewert and Kellie Abler and her son Will, and Jennifer and John Efta and their sons, Christopher and Nickolas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clea in 2011; son Stan; a brother, Norris; and sister Opal. It is requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to the St. John Lutheran Church.
