Read More	OLA FRANKS Graveside services for Ola Franks, 96, of Villisca, Iowa were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 16, 2003 at the Villisca Cemetery. Wolfe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Ola was born October 14, 1907 in Essex, Iowa, the son of Sidney Franks and Lura (Hagglund) Franks and died on his 96th birthday October 14, 2003 at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center. Ola had been a resident at the Good Samaritan Center since March 4, 2003. Ola married Viola Isaacson onJune 30, 1932 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Omaha, Nebraska. She preceded him in death in 1982. Ola was a long time resident of Villisca, making his living as a farmer, mechanic, and implement dealer-the-Bryson-Franks Allis Chalmers dealership. He was a member of the Iroquois Lodge #590 A.F. and A.M. Masonic Temple in Nodaway. He spent many hours enjoying gardening, golfing with his fellow “wobbles” hunting pheasant, fishing, bowling (with trophies to prove it), and ballroom dancing. His hands were seldom idle as he would gather black walnuts each fall and spend winter evenings cracking them and picking out the nuts. Then he would brag the nuts in individual bags to be given as Christmas gifts, along with is homemade caramel popcorn to his family and friends. His sister, Lillie, said that stubbornness was a trait that she shared with her brother, when it came to doctor visits. A strong sense of independence would be a good word to describe Ola. He live independently at home on his farm until February 19, 2003. At that time he entered the Clarinda Regional Health Center to undergo surgery for cancer. He remained in the hospital until Tuesday March 4, 2003 the day he transferred to the Villisca Good Samaritan Center. Ola was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Viola. He is survived by one sister, Lillie May Poulsen of Dubois, Wyoming, a half brother, Howard Franks, nieces, Inez Brandt and Peggy Thompson of Subois, Wyoming, Laura L. Brown of Portland, Oregon, Myra Lyon Ross of Maitland, Missouri, and Jean Stearns of Omaha, Nebraska, and nephews Ora Franks, Jr., Leland Isaacson of Lucas, Iowa, Robert Isaacson of Costa Mesa, California, and Delaine Isaacson of Stanton, Iowa.
