Born at Kinsarvik, Hardanger, Norway April 1, 1864, Mr. Severson became a seaman on a fishing boat at the age of 14. After five years as a seaman, he came to the United States. . . .farm in Iowa. In 1907 he moved to Adams County homesteading there. He was named the first treasurer of the county by Gov. John Burke and was one of the founders of the Adams County State Bank. Later he engaged in ranching and in the implement business and was active in politics. He continued to supervise farming operations on his land until his death. He married Dora Anderson in 1887. She died in October 1943. Survivors are two sons, two daughters, a brother and sister in Norway, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. A son, Ernest, died in 1952.
