Hermanson FATHER May 20, 1868 - July 16, 1929 Ole Hermanson Lake Mills Graphic July 17, 1929 – O. E. Hermanson died suddenly last evening at his home six miles south of Lake Mills. He had worked in the field yesterday, which makes his untimely passing a shock to the community. He was sixty-one years of age. Two years ago Mr. Hermanson suffered an extended illness and last spring was quite sick with pneumonia, but apparently had made a good recovery. Last evening he remained up to read, after the other members of the family had retired, but went to bed a half-hour later. At eleven o'clock his wife was awakened by his heavy breathing but death came before a doctor could be called. Mr. Hermanson was highly respected by all who knew him and his many acquaintances mourn his passing. He was a active member in the Winnebago Lutheran congregation of which he was a member and was a willing worker in the community. Besides his wife he leaves to mourn his death nine children. They are Mrs. Orville Killand, Mrs. Wilmer Peterson, Mrs. Emil Peterson, James, Alice, Ruth, Hilma, Richard and Leila. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 at the Winnebago Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. O. E. Hermanson was born to Elling and Breta Hermanson May 20, 1868 at their farm home in Center Township. He grew to manhood in this township and became a member of the Winnebago Lutheran Church through confirmation. On February 11, 1896 he was united in marriage to Annie Ingebretson, the Rev. G. O. Olson performing the ceremony. They began housekeeping on a farm in Newton township near Leland and made their home at that place for three years. Mr. and Mrs. Hermanson then bought a farm in Center township southwest of Lake Mills which is their homestead. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hermanson. They are: Mrs. Orville Killand, Mrs. Wilmer Peterson, Mrs. Emil Peterson, James, Alice, Ruth, Hilma, Richard, and Leila. All the children and Mrs. Hermanson survive their father and husband. Fourteen grandchildren mourn the death of Mr. Hermanson. Four brothers and three sisters also survive. They are: John of Scarville, Henry and Sever of Leland, Ed of Albert Lea, Mrs. A. A. Tweeten of Lake Mills, Mrs. I. N. Flugum, Lake Mills and Mrs. C. N. Flugum of Leland. Mr. Hermanson had enjoyed good health up to three years ago when he suffered a hemorrhage. He had apparently recovered and enjoyed good health again up to last winter when a severe attack of pneumonia greatly weakened his condition. He had been able to work on his farm, however, and had spent the day precious to his death in the field. Death came suddenly on the evening of July 16, the cause being given as heart disease. Funeral services were held July 20 at the Winnebago Lutheran church with Rev. Joh. Granskon and Rev. G. O. Olson in charge. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Mr. Hermanson was a man of kind disposition who made many friends and was a kind and loving neighbor and father. He was fond of children and enjoyed frequent visits from his grandchildren. He was a diligent worker and enjoyed good success as a farmer. Mr. Hermanson was active in both church and community work and held various offices during his life time. His passing has caused much sadness to his many friends. O. E. Hermanson died very suddenly Tuesday night. Funeral was held Saturday afternoon at the Winnebago church. Mr. Hermanson was a good neighbor and friend and will be greatly missed by all. Mrs. Hermanson who has been very poorly for some time was able to attend the services at the church. -- Card of Thanks --It is our most sincere desire to thank the friends and relatives who aided us during the recent death of our father and husband.
