''''''''''''''''''' News Journal (Fullerton, Nebr.), May 3, 1918, p. 4, col. 3 OLE ENGEBRETSON Ole Engebretson was born in Norway, July 3, 1827 and died April 25, at the home of his son at the age of 91 years. When he was 30 years old he emigrated to this country, the voyage taking six weeks. He made his new home at Waupon, Wisconsin, where he was married to Miss Bertha Jensen. To this union were born eight children, two sons and six daughters. After living in Wisconsin for 22 years he brought his family overland to Nebraska and settled 4 miles east of Fullerton in 1879. Here he resided for thirty-seven years and during that time was bereft of his wife, who died Aug. 5, 1902, and one son, Edward, who died in Minneapolis Aug. 29 [August 27, 1913]. In the summer of 1916 he, with the son and daughter who have cared for him, moved to Fullerton where they have since made their home. Mr. Engebretson was a member of the Lutheran church and was a faithful Christian to the day of his death. He found his chief comfort and consolation in the study of his Bible and when the final summons came he was ready and waiting to answer. He is survived by one son, six daughters, seven grand-children and four great grand-children, all of whom have the sincere sympathy of the community in their bereavement. He was laid to rest in the Westgord cemetery. Thus the final chapter of the life of one of this section's early pioneers has been closed.
