Brown, 91, of Norfolk on Wednesday, March 10, 1999 at the United Church of Christ, Pierce. Mr. Brown died March 4, 1999, at the Omaha Veterans Hospital. Rev. John Gradwohl officiated at the 10:30 am. service, Mrs. Laveryne Garvin was organist. The congregation sang hymns "How Great Thou Art" and "In the Garden." Casketbearers were Jeff Anderson, Russell Anderson, Troy Anderson, Robert Craft, Chris Logan, LeRoy Ristow. Visitation was from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce. Veteran service was by the American Legion Tomek-Otto Post #72, Pierce. Olin Otto Brown was born in Clay Center, Nebraska to Nelson H. and Clara Hoyt Brown. He attended Fairfield Public Schools until the 8th grade. He was 4-H National Dairy Champion in 1924. He married Iva Anderson on August 13, 1926 at St. Paul, NE. Following their marriage they farmed for five years in the Fairfield area. He also worked for Farmers Union. They moved to Pierce in January of 1940 where he worked at a gas station. They moved to Norfolk in 1988. He had been at the Norfolk Veterans Home since 1993. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Pierce, the American Legion in Pierce and the V.F.W. in Norfolk. He served in the marines in World War II in the Pacific Theater from June 20, 1944 until December 10, 1945. He is survived by his wife Iva Brown, Pierce; one son, Gene and wife Donna Brown of Norfolk; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Nelda) Linkvis of Kingman, AZ, and Mrs. Bill (Donna) Krier of Levittown, PA; nine grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grand-children, eight step-great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Franks of Broken Bow. He was preceded in death by parents, one grandson, one sister Viola, two brothers Milton and Ralph.
