Olive Angela “Lynn” Leininger was born on a breezy night, August 31, 1921, in the prairie lands of Akron, Colorado. Read More	Sutton, Nebraska resident, Olive Angela “Lynn” Leininger, 98, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton. Olive Angela “Lynn” Leininger was born on a breezy night, August 31, 1921, in the prairie lands of Akron, Colorado. Lynn was the second oldest of eleven children born to Fred and Etta (Lohmeier) Leininger. Lynn grew up on the family farm south of Sutton, where going to church on Sunday morning was never missed and then to her grandparent’s house to eat and enjoy the day with family. Lynn’s Catholic faith and family were very important to her and dear to her heart. Those were some of her greatest memories. Lynn attended a one-room schoolhouse in the country. She was able to go from first grade to eighth grade in seven years and then on to Sutton High School. She graduated with the Class of 1937. Lynn’s senior year provided training for her to teach in a rural school, grades first through eighth. She taught in Fillmore County and District 20. She furthered her education by attending Accelerated Business School for three months. Lynn worked in the Nebraska State Superintendent’s Office and Selective Service Office at the State Capitol in Lincoln, Nebraska. She also was a soloist for a band. Lynn then moved to San Francisco, California where she worked at Bechtel International, an oil refinery, as a bookkeeper. She then went to work for the 6th Army Criminal Investigation Department and from there she advanced to the Wage Stabilization Board for the government and finally ended up working for the IRS Headquarters at the Presidio, as an Army Public Information Specialist, where she retired. In her retirement, Lynn was involved with many volunteer programs; such as, Nursery For Unwed Mothers, a weekly Prayer and Communion Service for St. Anthony’s, Madonna House for low-income women, Gray Lady (which is part of the Red Cross) where she would go one night a week to visit injured service personnel. She was a big San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan where she supported her teams with season tickets. She was a member of Old Saint Mary’s in China Town and Notre Dame des Victoires in San Francisco where she enjoyed practicing her Catholic faith and volunteering which was special to her. Lynn never owned a car and enjoyed walking. She loved gardening, swimming, playing bridge, sewing, golf, and tennis. She was a very independent lady and could hold her own on any subject. Most of all, she was a loving person to her Catholic faith and family. Lynn moved back to Sutton in 2016 and lived in Hillcrest View Assisted Living and then moved to the Sutton Community Home. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Etta Leininger; sister and brother-in-law, Marguerite and Oscar Rodgers; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Dona Leininger; brothers, Kenneth Leininger; Leo Leininger; sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Richard Ochsner; and infant brother, Anthony Leininger. Lynn is survived by her brother, Max (Regina) Leininger; sister, Alyce Leininger; sister-in-law, Delores Leininger; brother, Stephen (Marcia) Leininger all of Sutton; sister, Joan (Duane) Rasby of Sutherland; sister-in-law, Ann Leininger of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 48 nieces and nephews; and 132 great-nieces and nephews.
