Mrs. Kellogg, the aged mother of Mrs. Owen Taylor, died at the home of her daughter, where she had been tenderly cared for the past few weeks on Friday last. Olive Lavina Smith was born near Janesville, Wis., August 6, 1850, and died in Liberty township, Plymouth county, Ia., May 23, 1919. She was married to Lucian F. Kellogg August 27, 1868 at Beloit, Wis. Shortly after their marriage the couple came west to Smithland, Ia., and lived successively in Wisconsin, Kansas and Iowa again. After the death of Mr. Kellogg in 1910 Mrs. Kellogg and her daughter Harriet, lived in LeMars and Merrill for some years. She was taken to her daughter's home this spring when her serious condition became apparent. Five children survive their mother, Harriet, Mrs. Alice Kellogg and Artie, of Liberty township, George of Sioux City, and Mrs. Ella Spencer, of Baxter Kan. Nine of fifteen grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive. A large concourse of neighbors and friends attended the funeral which was held Sunday afternoon at the Adaville church, the pastor, Rev. Wilson, officiating. Internment was in the Pleasant Valley cemetery where Mr. Kellogg also is buried. The pall bearers were selected from the older residents of the community and were Oscar Carlson, Alford Fry, Noah Knapp, Will Milner, Fred Minor and Cias Montagne. Relatives from a distance attending Mrs. Kellogg's funeral were G. C. Bowen, Smithland; Mrs. Joe Weathers and Harry Weathers, Anthon; Mrs. H. F. Timmerman, Mrs. Harry Sarvins Oto; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Nelson and Mr. and Mrs. Will Means. In 1870 Lucian and Olive moved to Iowa. they lived in Abiline Kansas 1874-1877. By 1877 they moved to Adaville, Little Sioux, Woodbury, Iowa.
