She died Feb. 16, 1983 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, at the age of 93. Olive was raised on a farm southeast of Dunlap in Shelby County. She received her formal education in the rural schools near her home. On Jan. 1, 1908, Olive was united in marriage to Newton Pearl Lyman at her parents home in Dunlap. Together they made their first home on a farm near Dunlap in Harrison County. In 1921 they moved to Monona County and later in 1927 moved to Crawford County. They made their home in Deloit, for ten years before moving to Denison. After her husband's death in 1957, Olive continued to make Denison her home. Since December of 1981, she has been a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home due to failing health. In addition to her parents and her husband, Olive was preceded in death by one son Dale in 1961 and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include, three sons, Dean Lyman of Newell, Merrill Lyman of Denison and Howard Lyman of Des Moines. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren, two brothers, Richard Leytham of Tennessee and Kenneth Leytham of Council Bluffs and one sister, Mrs. Opal Evans, also of Council Bluffs. Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Denison. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dunlap. The Rev. Dr. Scott Woodworth officiated at the services. Mrs. Dorothy Norman serviced as organist with Henry Henningsen soloist. Hymns for the services were How Great Thou Art and In The Garden. Pallbearers were grandsons, Gerald Lyman, Sheldon Lyman, Garlyn Lyman, Gailen Lyman, Michael Lyman and Mitch Lyman. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home of Denison. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Scott Woodworth will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap under the direction of the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Mrs. Lyman, the former Olive Laytham, was born June 29, 1889, in Shelby County. She was raised on a farm southeast of Dunlap and received her education in rural schools. She married Pearl Lyman Jan. 1, 1908, in Dunlap. They made their first home on a farm in Harrison County, later farmed In Monona County before moving to a farm near Denison in 1927. He died in 1957 and since that time she had made her home in Denison. Since December of 1981, she had been a resident of Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison.
