Read More	Crum, Oliver D. 1890-1964 ~ WW I VETERAN ~ Crum Oliver Nov. 23, 1890 -- July 24, 1964 ------ Oliver Crum, 73, died at the Health Institute Hospital in Cherokee Friday, July 24 after a lengthy illness. He had been a resident there for 25 years. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Crum, early settlers of this area. He was born on the home farm southeast of Ida Grove, November 23, 1890. He attended the rural schools and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1910. After graduation he attended Cedar Rapids Business School, then was employed in Civil Service work in Washington D. C. He was a veteran of World War I, entering the service on September 5, 1918 at Camp Dodge, Des Moines. The last of September, he was transferred to Camp Pike, Little Rock, Ark., where he attended a Non-Com school until word was received that the war was over. He then returned to Camp Dodge where he received his discharge on December 29, 1918. He also farmed with his father and brother for some time. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Stough of Storm Lake, Mrs. Emma Yousling and Mrs. Aura Petersen, both of Ida Grove; one brother, Clayton Crum of Odebolt; one niece, five nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held at the Christensen Funeral Home on Monday, July 27 at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. Fred Hamlin of Denison, former pastor of Winebrenner Chruch of God officiating. Burial was in the Ida Grove cemetery where military rites were conducted by McNamara-Moore American Legion Post.
