A lifelong Ottumwa resident, he had been a hospital patient the last 8 ½ months. The son of Jacob and Clara Hickman Blanchard, he was born in Wapello County February 10, 1890. He had made his home with the James Peck family on Route 6 since 1911. Mr. Blanchard was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are two brothers, Tillet Blanchard of Ottumwa and Elmer Blanchard of Omaha; a sister, Mrs. Cora Alvey of Los Angeles; six nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jacob. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in charge of the Rev. LaVerne Morris, pastor of the Davis Street Christian Church. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
