Read More	Oliver Hazzard Perry Berstler was born in Guernsey county, Ohio, January 28, 1840 and died at Millersburg, Iowa, July 27, 1899. Between these two dates lies the record of a useful life which tho' not reaching the full limit of Man's years was, still not short. Mr. Berstler was one of the best known and most respected citizens of the south part of Iowa county. In early manhood he left his childhood home and spent a number of years in Montana, carrying freight from Ogden, Utah, thru Montana to the northwest. Growing tired of this kind of life he came to Millersburg, Iowa, in December 1870. This place was then the home of his father, John Berstler, deceased, and his four brothers Joseph, John, Samuel and Anson. January 26, 1873 Mr. Berstler was married to Miss Susan Hilderbrand of Millersburg, Iowa. Of this union ten children were born... Mr. Berstler was a kind husband and father, a true friend and a good citizen. He united with the Methodist Protestant church in 1890 and has lived an earnest, consistent christian life. Death came to him suddenly as the result of a most serious accident July 27. While putting a belt on his threshing machine his left arm was caught and torn from his body before the machine could be stopped. From the shock of this wound and the bruises sustained he died four hours later, without fully returning to consciousness. The funeral occured Saturday July 29, at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Protestant church in Millersburg. The services were conducted by Rev. Keyser, of Keswick, assisted by Rev. Robb, his pastor who owing to illness was unable to have full charge. The text was found in Psalms 3-4. Rev. Keyser's remarks were fitting and beautiful and charity set forth the christians hope. Four brothers from other parts of the states were present at the funeral. There were J. G. and S. C. Berstler, of Ft. Madison, J. of Keswick and A. L. of West Liberty. The remains were laid to rest in the Millersburg cemetery where his friends and relatives. The funeral procession was one of the longest on the streets of Millersburg.
