Read More	* 1939 Obituary - "The Tipton Daily Tribune", Tipton, Indiana - April 19, 1939 - relatives in Kempton have been notified of the death and Fort Wayne of Olivie O. Gossard, better known to all his friends as Ollie Gossard. Mr. Gossard went from Kempton to Fort Wayne about 6 months ago, to make his home with her brother Harry Gossard. He had not been well since an accident as home when a gasoline stove exploded in his home and he was severely burned on his face, hands and arms. After going to Fort Wayne, he continued to fail, and his death occurred Tuesday at the Fort Wayne Nurses Home. Funeral service are to be held at Fort Wayne Thursday morning and the body will be cremated and the ashes brought to Kempton for interment besides his wife and son, who preceded him to the grave. Ollie Gossard was born on the farm northwest of Kempton, 64 years ago, and was one of several children of Jacob and Sarah (Vanorsdall) Gossard and was educated in the schools of his community, and later attended and graduated from the Kempton high school. He was married July 2, 1895, to miss Minnie Carder, daughter of Samuel and Mary (Holloway) Carter, neighborhoods of the Gossard family, and for many years they made their home in Kempton. Ollie Gossard was a constant student and was a man of good business judgment, having accumulated considerable property at one time. His wife met a tragic death, being killed by a fast passenger train in Kempton November 23, 1934, and his only son, Everett, a world war veteran, killed himself while temporally deranged just one year later. Surviving relatives, besides the brother Fort Wayne, are Frank Gossard of Kempton, James Gossard of Huntington, and Miss Ada Finney of Baltimore, Maryland., brothers and sister. A number of nephew and nieces and other more distant relatives reside in this and adjoining counties. Ollie Gossard, after retiring from the farm about 22 years ago, established the Kempton Telephone Company and later years drove a school hack. He leaves many warm friends and this County to mourn his passing.
