Description	:	CLARINDA HERALD, Clarinda, Iowa, 19 Mar 1928- Oliver Perry Reynolds, for fifty-seven years a resident of the vicinity southeast of Villisca, died at his home there at 8:45 pm Thursday of last week. He had been in poor health for several years, his recent illness dating from last August when he fell and broke his left hip, and he has been practically helpless ever since. Read More	CLARINDA HERALD, Clarinda, Iowa, 19 Mar 1928- Oliver Perry Reynolds, for fifty-seven years a resident of the vicinity southeast of Villisca, died at his home there at 8:45 pm Thursday of last week. He had been in poor health for several years, his recent illness dating from last August when he fell and broke his left hip, and he has been practically helpless ever since. He was born Oct 28, 1848 near Wapello, Iowa, and was 79 years old at his death. He resided in eastern Iowa until 1871 when he came to the neighborhood southeast of Villisca where he lived continously thereafter. He was married Oct 9, 1883 to Melvina J. Tompkins of Bonaparte, Iowa, and they went to housekeeping on the farm where Mr Reynolds died. To this union were born two sons and two daughters, the daughters dying in infancy. The sons are Chas J. of Derby, Colo., who has been here helping care for his father during the past winter and Robert R., residing near the home farm. Besides the wife and sons there is also a sister, Mrs J.W. Wise of Omaha, a brother, John C. Reynolds of Monett, Mo., and a half-brother, J. Emery Reynolds of Fredricksburg, Ia. Mr Reynolds united with the North Grove Methodist church fifty years ago and held his membership here until his death. He came to this vicinity when it was sparsely settled, built his own house and broke many acres of virgin prairie. His funeral was held at his home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, with Rev Geo. A. Lawton in charge of the service. He was assisted in the service by Mrs M.L. Dewey of New Market. The singing was by J.H. Todd, H.H. Nordyke, R.J. Swanson and H.E. Dow and the pallbearers were A.W. McCoy, Wilbur Branan, C.C. Wycoff, Cyrus Murhpy, J.M. Copelin, and Chas Wise, and interment was in the North Grove cemetery.
