Cowgill, the oldest son of John and Katherine Cowgill, was born in Canal Dover, Tuscarawas county, Ohio on June 9th, 1837 and fell asleep on Tuesday morning at 7:20, aged 69 years, 2 months and 24 days. Of his father's family, there were 7 children, 2 sons and 5 daughters. Cowgill, the oldest son of John and Katherine Cowgill, was born in Canal Dover, Tuscarawas county, Ohio on June 9th, 1837 and fell asleep on Tuesday morning at 7:20, aged 69 years, 2 months and 24 days. Of his father's family, there were 7 children, 2 sons and 5 daughters. Four still survive, Hattie living in Taylorville, Ill., Katherine at York, Nebraska, and the only one present, Emily at Pana, Ill., and Christopher who resides at Terra Haute, Indiana. Mr. Cowgill came with his parents to Christian county, Ill., at an early day and on the 24th day of April 1867, he was united in marriage to Miss Marguerite Griffin. To this union were born two children, one son who died in infancy and Katherine M., who with her mother mourns the loss of husband and father. n 1875 Mr. Cowgill with his family came to Nebraska, settling at York, removing to this city in 1882, where for the last 25 years he has made his home. Mr. Cowgill has been associated with the business and building interests for a quarter of a century and it is safe to say that few if any have so few enemies and so many friends.... His last illness covered a period of six weeks. All that skill could accomplish and loving friends could conceive was faithfully done. Tenderly, sister, wife and daughter attended him.....
