Description	:	Mr. Oliver Wannamaker, of Pilot township, died at Excelsior Springs, Mo., on Saturday, August 8th. He had been ailing for some time and on Saturday he started for Excelsior Springs hoping that the waters of the place might bring him relief. Mr. George McCallieter, his old friend and neighbor, accompanied him; upon arriving at the Missouri city Mr. Wannamaker v/as very 111 and prompt medical attendance >was secured; but the vitality was low, the pulse was week and before midnight the man died. The body was prepared for shipment and It arrived here on Monday's noon train and was at once taken to the home In Pilot. Word was sent to his relatives in South Dakota and the funeral... Word was sent to his relatives in South Dakota and the funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Pilot Grove church and were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Cole, of Mlllersburg, assisted by ReV. J. A. Myers. The sermon was preached by Rev. Cole. A large gathering of old friends and neighbors attended the services and the body was laid away in the Pilot Oliver Wannamaker was born In New York state 63 years ago. At the age of five years he came with his parents, brothers and sisters to Beaver Dam, WIs., and the home was made here until 1866 when the family moved to Pilot township. The parents died neveral years ago and since then the home was kept by Oliver and his sister, Miss Tilda. Happily they dwelt together and the death of the brother comes with a crushing weight upon the olster who remains. James Wannamaker, a brother, resides in South Dakota and he and a niece were present at the funeral. Oliver Wannamaker was one of those good kindly souls In whose heart there was nothing but peace; he was loved by his neighbors and no enmity ever colored his thought or his wish. As a neighbor he was all that the term Implies and when he died the locality In which he so long resided felt that it suffered a real loss.
