Description	:	Olivette Dorothy Marcella (Pehrson) Werling daughter of Harry and Belinda (Erickson) Pehrson was born January 2 1909 in Red Oak Iowa. She graduated from Red Oak High School and then from Iowa State University. After moving to Tipton Olivette taught Home Economics at the Tipton High School for several years. On June 20 1937 Olivette was united in marriage to Ralph "Sprig" Werling in Red Oak. Olivette was a member of the Tipton United Church of Christ where she was past Superintendent of the Sunday School and was active in her Circle. She was also a member of the P.E.O.... She graduated from Red Oak High School and then from Iowa State University. After moving to Tipton Olivette taught Home Economics at the Tipton High School for several years. On June 20 1937 Olivette was united in marriage to Ralph "Sprig" Werling in Red Oak. Olivette was a member of the Tipton United Church of Christ where she was past Superintendent of the Sunday School and was active in her Circle. She was also a member of the P.E.O. the Order of the Eastern Star the 19th Century Club a board member of the Mayflower Home in Grinnell and was instrumental in writing "How Iowa Cooks" a cookbook by the Women's Club. Olivette had many very happy memories of her time spent during the winters in McAllen Texas. She is survived by two sisters Fern Gammell and Velma Jarrett both of Red Oak; one brother Leland Pehrson of Minneapolis Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews. Olivette was preceeded in death by her parents her husband (Nov. 25 1975); and two sisters. Olivette died at the age of 87 on July 18 1996 and is buried in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery Tipton Iowa. las.iastate.edu
