Mrs. Daetwiler was born April 16, 1915, in Guin, AL, the daughter of Frank W. and Carrie Bell (May) Bowlan. Mrs. Daetwiler was a homemaker and a salesperson. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Herington. She received her business degree at the Bague Business College in Wichita. She worked for Knuth's Pharmacy, Child's Clothing Store, Deatrick Shoe Store, and T.K. Oxandale's over the years in Herington. She married Melvin M. Daetwiler on May 3, 1941, in Herington; he preceded her in death (on the same day) Dec. 3, 2001. The past couple years she had lived at the Delaware Highland Assisted Living in Kansas City. Mrs. Daetwiler's remains were bequeathed to the KU Medical Center. She is the last of five children. A brother, J. C. Bowlan and three sisters, Aza Lee Richards, Ima Lou Barlow, and Genny Smith, and her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her only son, Greg Daetwiler and his wife, Diane of Kansas City, KS; three grandchildren, Kari, Travis, and Jessica; and a great granddaughter, Amya. The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers, to the Hilltop Community Center of Herington; and they can be sent in care of the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Herington Chapel, 404 S.
