Description	:	Opal Ellen (Thomas) Kramer was born to Arthur and Elva (Norris) Thomas March 8, 1920 at her grandparents' farm southeast of Holyoke. She died May 18, 2011 at 7:50 p.m. at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke. After moving many times with her family, they returned to Holyoke and Opal attended Phillips County High School, graduating in 1938. Opal was united in marriage to Vernon Kramer June 4, 1939 in Eads. Read More	Opal Ellen (Thomas) Kramer was born to Arthur and Elva (Norris) Thomas March 8, 1920 at her grandparents' farm southeast of Holyoke. She died May 18, 2011 at 7:50 p.m. at Regent Park Nursing Home in Holyoke. After moving many times with her family, they returned to Holyoke and Opal attended Phillips County High School, graduating in 1938. Opal was united in marriage to Vernon Kramer June 4, 1939 in Eads. To this union, five sons and two daughters were born. In 1943 Vern and Opal purchased the Cleve Scott Ranch 18 miles southeast of Holyoke. They farmed and ranched there for 55 years until the death of Vern in 1998. At this time, Opal moved into Holyoke. She was a member of Eureka Club for over 50 years, Jolly Dozen Club and various church organizations. Opal was a wonderful cook and hostess, graciously opening her home to family and friends. She was a member of the Holyoke Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Elva Thomas; husband, Vern; son, Mickey; grandsons, Todd Kramer and Jered Schilke; daughter-in-law, Lynda Kramer; and brothers, Howard, Harvey and Morgan Thomas. She is survived by her children, Roger Kramer and wife Mary Beth, Garry Kramer and wife Tina, Randy Kramer and wife Karin, Byron Kramer and wife Kim, all of Holyoke, Joanne Wieland and husband Russ of Berthoud and Joyce Malleck and husband Ray of Imperial, Neb.; daughter-in-law, Gwen Triplette of Holyoke; 43 grandchildren: Becky and Randy Oliver, Mark and Julie Tonsing, Lisa and Tim Schilke, Kathi and Jason Mikesell, Brad and Jade Wieland, Barb and Kevin White, Brent and Wendy Wieland, Kelly and Dwayne Reineke, Craig and Teresa Kramer, Jamee and Adam Lock, Nicholas Rowan, Natalie Kramer, Sarah and Gregg McAdam, Josh and Candace Martin, Anne and Chris Parr, Kevin Malleck, Bret and Lori Kramer, Kandice Kramer, Kassandra and Raymond Soulard, Chad and Katie Kramer, Gina and Max Wear, Kylee and Matt Gustafson, Chance and Julianne Kramer and Josi Kramer; 42 great-grandchildren: Ryan and Jessica Oliver, Gentry Oliver, Derek and Kayla Schilke, Meghan Mikesell, Andrew, Evan and Katelynn Wieland, Ian Frazier, Heather, Alexis, Shonteal and Hunter White, Jennifer and Jason Wieland, Garry, Theresia, Immaculata, Francis, Lynda, Augustine and baby Reineke, Caitlyn, Kelsey and Cavin Kramer, Allison, Ryne, Brooke and Avery Lock, Jordyn, Macy and Lauryn McAdam, Makenzie and Karlie Martin, Sawyer Malleck, Charlotte and Eva Kramer, Layna and Elia Wear, Tripp Gustafson and baby Kramer; two great-great-granddaughters: Addison and Paige Oliver; brother, George Thomas of Holyoke; sisters-in law, Elsie Thomas of Denver, Jean Cochran and husband Ron of Grant, Neb. and Elaine Kramer of Greeley; numerous nieces and nephews; and other relatives. Funeral services were held May 23 at First United Methodist Church with pastors Darrell Dennis and Paul Sung officiating. Interment followed at Holyoke Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Melissa Memorial Hospital for an electric lift X-ray table, to BeCause or to a favorite charity.
