Holcomb on April 6, 1903, at Dunlap, Iowa, to Stanley and Eva Mae Holcomb. In 1908, the family moved to Mansfield, where she grew up and received her early education. Yeager, 93, a 55-year resident of Mansfield, died Thursday morning, June 20, 1996, in the Okanogan- Douglas County Hospital in Brewster. She was born Opal I. Holcomb on April 6, 1903, at Dunlap, Iowa, to Stanley and Eva Mae Holcomb. In 1908, the family moved to Mansfield, where she grew up and received her early education. In the fall of 1917 she moved to Wenatchee to attend high school, graduating from Wenatchee High School in 1921. Opal then moved to Seattle and in 1945 she returned to Mansfield. On Nov. 2, 1953, she married Ames V. Yeager at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They operated the family farm in Mansfield along with Ames' brother, Marcel, until their retirement in 1967. They traveled extensively and for many years they spent the winters in Arizona. Opal enjoyed her yard, garden and flowers and her greatest hobby was that of a "rock hound." Mrs. Yeager was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Waterville, Mansfield Grange No. 883, Mansfield Pioneers Club and was a charter member of the Chief Joseph Gem and Mineral Club. Survivors include her dear family friends, Ethel Poole and family and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970, her parents and one sister. Waterville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. OPAL I. YEAGER - A graveside service of commemoration for Opal I. Yeager, 93, a 55 year resident of Mansfield, will be conducted at 11 o'clock Monday morning (June 24, 1996) at the gravesite in the Mansfield Cemetery with Rev. Sam Buckingham officiating. Those who wish may make a memorial in Opal's name to the Mansfield volunteer Fire/Ambulance Fund. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Waterville Funeral Home. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
