Alcorn, for nine years a resident of Villisca died Tuesday morning at 7 o’clock at her hoe, her death resulting from a stroke of paralysis which she suffered Sunday morning of last week. She is the mother of thirteen children and hers is the first death in her family, all her children and her husband surviving her. Ophelia Kerr was born at Titusville, Pennsylvania, December 16, 1852 and was 73 years old at her death. She was married to William Alexander Alcorn, February 28, 1871 and to them were born six sons and seven daughters. She came to Benton County, Iowa in 1875 and in 1893 to Montgomery County, settling near Grant and later coming to Villisca to reside. Her children are Dr. J. R., Donald E., and Maude Alcorn and Mrs. Ella E. Tice, Hollywood, California; J. M. and W. C. Alcorn, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; J. A. and C. D. Alcorn and Mrs. O. R. Whitney, Bridgewater, South Dakota; Margaret Alcorn, Omaha; Mrs. L. D. Foote, Grant; Mrs. C. R. Warne and Mrs. R. N. Mann, Villisca. Mrs. Alcorn was a member of the Presbyterian Church. The body was taken to the Fessler & Sutphen funeral home where it remained until the funeral was held at her home, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Dr. A. P.
