Obituary from the Moravia Union, 9/27/1965: Mrs. Ora Turner Dies in California Funeral services for Mrs. Ora Selby Turner, 89, were held Sept. 18th in the chapel of Pierce Bros., Hollywood, Calif. She was born in Moravia, Ia., July 9, 1976. She married Frank Selby and resided in Moravia until his death. Then she came to California where she lived until she and C.A. Turner married in Upland, Calif. He took her back to Moravia, where she lived until his death. She again came to Calif., and has resided with her daughter, Mrs. Fern Handy, 841 South Serrano Avenue, Los Angeles, the past six years. She passed away Sept. 17 after a brief illness. Mrs. Turner remained a member of the Moravia Garden club, the W.S.C.S., and the Rebekahs. She was worthy matron of the Eastern Stars and later served them as chaplain for several years. She continued her membership in the Moravia Methodist church. Dr. J. Richard Sneed, born in Moravia, a family friend and many years the minister of the first Methodist Church of Los Angeles delivered the eulogy. Mrs. Turner is survived by three daughters, Oneita Selby, Mrs. Fontelle Selby Swenson and Mrs. Fern Selby Handy (all of Los Angeles); a sister, Eva Frome George of Rialto; two grandsons, Waldo Earl Handy of Indianapolis, Frank Selby Handy of Los Angeles, and three great-grandchildren. Interment was in Sanctuary of Honor, Hollywood Memorial Park.
