SHORE O. B. Shore, of Pleasant township, died Feb. 21 at the Yocom hospital in Chariton where he had been a patient since Feb. 11, having suffered a stroke of paralysis the preceding day. He was 67 years, 2 months and 25 days of age at the time of his passing. Oren Bert Shore, only son of Alfred and Jennie Kesselring Shore, was born Nov. 22, 1877, in Pleasant township, where he grew to manhood, established a farm and lived until his death. On Nov. 24, 1898, he was married to Effie Mae Shull, who departed this life Dec. 3, 1918, after years of invalidism. On Feb. 14, 1923, he was married to Ruby Pilkington, they having commemorated their twenty-second wedding anniversay just six days before his death. O. B. Shore was a quiet and very unassuming man in his manner of life. He adhered strictly to his own business affairs never intruding into the affairs of others, and was industrious, honest and honorable in all his business relationships. As a young man he united with the Zion Methodist church. While he never gave much verbal expression to his own life he revealed qualities in his very reticence which were most commendable. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Hattie Johnston, of Columbia, Iowa. His only other sister, Mrs. Gertie Shore Watts, preceded him in death in July, 1944, at Upper Lake, California. He also leaves four nephews and three nieces besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services, in charge of Rev. Archie Beals, of Russell, were held at the Zion Methodist church with burial in the Zion cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnnie Umbenhower, Shelby White, Dave Westman, Chester Miller, George Chamberlain and Verle Sanders. Music was furnished by a trio consisting of Mrs. Wm. Covey, Mrs. Louie Westman and Mrs. Butler with Mrs. Clell Whitlatch at the piano. The flowers were most beautiful, an expression of sympathy of neighbors, friends and relatives.
