Gaunt Dies at Former's Home Oren E Gaunt, an old resident of this city, died at 9:20 this morning at the home of his son, Calvin R Gaunt, 202 North Fourth Avenue, of general debility and infirmities of old age. Mr Gaunt was born in Decatur county, Indiana, April 20, 1838, the fifth child of a family of eleven. Gaunt Dies at Former's Home Oren E Gaunt, an old resident of this city, died at 9:20 this morning at the home of his son, Calvin R Gaunt, 202 North Fourth Avenue, of general debility and infirmities of old age. Mr Gaunt was born in Decatur county, Indiana, April 20, 1838, the fifth child of a family of eleven. He spent his early life on a farm near Greensburg, Indiana and at the outbreak of the civil war enlisted in Company E Eighty-third Indiana volunteer infantry. He served until the close of the war and was discharged at Washington D.C. In 1866 Mr Gaunt came to Iowa and two years later was united in marriage at Clemons with Miss Emma E Clemons, who died September 5, 1919 at the home of her son, C.R. Gaunt, in this city. Mr and Mrs Gaunt celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1918, and had spent nearly all of their married life in Marshall County. Mr and Mrs Gaunt made their home at Clemons until 1880 when they moved to Dallas Coutny where they resided for ten years returning to Clemons in 1890. After a year's residence they moved to LeGrand where they made their home for several years. Recently Mr Gaunt had lived with his son. Mr Gaunt is survived by four sons, Calvin R and Luther E Gaunt, of this city, and Ira M and William M Gaunt of LeGrand. A brother, J W Gaunt lives at Clemons and a sister, Mrs L W Cowen at Greensburg, Indiana. Evening Times Republican Tuesday, February 3, 1920
