Description	:	Mrs. O. F. Peoples, 86, Dies Tuesday at Home Mrs. Orinda Foster Peoples, 86, died Tuesday evening at her home, 19 S. Congress St., following an illness of 10 days. Mrs. Peoples, descendant of a pioneer Athens family, was a former postal employe and served for a time as assistant postmaster for some time prior to her retirement in 1939 after 29 years in the local post office. Read More	Mrs. O. F. Peoples, 86, Dies Tuesday at Home Mrs. Orinda Foster Peoples, 86, died Tuesday evening at her home, 19 S. Congress St., following an illness of 10 days. Mrs. Peoples, descendant of a pioneer Athens family, was a former postal employe and served for a time as assistant postmaster for some time prior to her retirement in 1939 after 29 years in the local post office. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her grandfather, Hull Foster, Sr., came to Athens from Belpre in 1804 and her great-grandmother, Sarah Porter Foster, who came here from near Boston, was one of the charter members of the Athens Presbyterian Church. Her father, Franklin E. Foster, helped in planting the McGuffey Elms while he was as student at Ohio University. One of her brothers, the late I. M. Foster, became a congressman. An accomplished pianist, Mrs. Peoples played the score for operas that were presented many years ago in this area, featuring local talent. Her survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Edward Harris, the former Mary Peoples, of Lynchburg, Va., two great-grandchildren and four grandchildren, Bradford Foster Harris, East Orange, N.J.; Edward Richmond Harris, Winchester, Va.; Sarah Foster Clapp, Columbus, and William Ford Clapp, Saginaw, Mich. Another daughter, Helen Peoples Clapp, died in 1945. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Roger M. Rice, Jr. Burial will be in West Union Street Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Jagers funeral home.
