Description	:	ORLANDO EICH Mass of the Christian burial for Orlando Eich of Huxley will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2000, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Mr. Eich, 88, formerly of Carroll, died Wednesday, May 10, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. The Revs. Laurence Burns and Mark McKercher will concelebrate the Mass. McKercher will be homilist. Lector will be Judy McKercher. Gift bearers will be Cynthia Martin, Sondra Kroeger, Dawn Cavalier, Lisa Weatherwax and Karla Primrose. Eucharistic ministers will be Cynthia Martin and Cecil and Luella Menke. Casket bearers will be Russell Brown, Daniel Brown, Jason Brown, Joseph Kroeger, Rodney Martin and Ron Cavalier. St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7:30 Sunday night at the funeral home. A son of Joe and Anna (Schroeder) Eich, he was born Nov. 6, 1911, at Halbur. He spent his younger years there, attending St. Augustine School. He and Verena Friedman were married April 23, 1935, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. The Eichs resided in Carroll. Mr.. Eich attended an auto-body repair school at Kansas City, Mo., returned to Carroll and managed the auto-body repair shops at McCoy Motors and Whaley Chevrolet until retiring in 1976. He moved to Huxley in October 1999. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Men's Club and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Eich was on the Carroll Fire Department from 1943 to 1986, serving many years as assistant chief and treasurer. He also enjoyed golf, fishing and gardening. Survivors include three children and their spouses: Gene and Marlene Eich of Ankeny, Sharon and Arnold Kroeger of Brandon, Fla., and Kathy and Jerry Brown of Buyck, Minn.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law: Louise Friedman of Raleigh, N.C., Bernice Majewski of Milwaukee, Wis., and Jeanetta Friedman of Glenwood Springs, Colo. Mr. Eich was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Verena, in April 1999.
