Read More	From a 1912 Nance County, Nebraska, newspaper clipping file, transcribed by Linda Berney: Orlando Loucks died at his son's home two miles west of Fullerton, Sunday, August 11, 1912 at 8:45 a.m. The subject of this sketch came to Fullerton, Nance County, Nebr., in March 1883, settling upon the same land and building a home for his family where he has ever since resided. Mr. Loucks first saw the light of day in Herkirmer County,N. Y., April 11, 1829. When quite young his parents removed to Greenville, Michigan, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage to Miss Juliette A. Crane, November 7, 1852 in Rose, Oakland county, Michigan after which they moved to Illinois. Later they moved to the state of Missouri where he was engaged in running a tannery and a hotel. When the civil war broke out, Mr. Loucks being in sympathy with the north, and being too far south for general comfort, procured an old team of horses and an old wagon for disguise; loaded his effects, consisting of a few necessaries , and family, wife and two daughters, started north, leaving everything in the wake of the war. When he arrived at Marshall county, Ia., he concluded to again make a start, for a home and was one of the foremost citizens for the betterment of the vicinity in which he lived. While visiting a daughter located near St. Edward, Nebr., he was much impressed with the advantages that Nebraska presented, returned to Iowa, disposed of his Iowa home, for the farm on which he passed away. While attending a series of meeting held under the auspices of the Methodist church in Fullerton, in the fall of 1905, he became converted and how thoroughly it was, we find recorded on the fly leaf of his Bible: Fullerton, Neb., December 3, 1905: - "Orlando Loucks went forward to get the religion of Jesus Christ and I got it, thank the Lord, in a shape that I know, I got it, Bless His dear and holy name." His last illness began February last with blood poison and gangrene in his feet. He bore the pain and suffering with Christian fortitude until called to come up higher. He leaves to mourn a son and daughter, Mrs. J. Rosencrantz of St. Edward and Frank Loucks of Fullerton, besides eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted by Elder Main of Central City assisted by the local clergy by whom he was held in high esteem, at the M. E. church in Fullerton Monday afternoon, Aug. 12.
