Description	:	Mr Orley Fiscus, age 79, of 1913 South Avenue Place died early Tuesday, December 8 at his home of cancer while under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services were held on Friday at Estel Perrin Avey Funeral Home with the Rev Jeffrey Caswell officiating. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Military rites were conducted by Harry C Harter Post 839 of the V.F.W. He was born December 30, 1918 at Liscomb, the son of Elva and Laura Nugent Fiscus. He was baptized at Bethel Grove Christian Church at Liscomb. He graduated from Albion High School in 1937 and was employed with Rath Packing Company in Waterloo until he was drafted into the Army where he spent 4 1/2 years as a member of the 10th Station Hospital Unit serving in the British Isle during World War II. After his discharge he attended Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls and returned to employment at Rath Packing Company. In 1947 he married Leona Goecke at Manson, Iowa. They farmed for 15 years in the Liscomb and Lamoille areas. In 1965 they moved to Marshalltown where Orley served as Deputy Sheriff of Marshall County. He also was a realtor and broker in Marshalltown and owned and operated motels in Marshalltown and Clinton where they lived for five years from 1975 to 1980. They returned to State Center where he began part time work for Wensel Perrin Avey Funeral Home from February 1, 1985 to December 31, 1993. During retirement he and his wife operated a small antique business. Orley was a member of Central Christian Church in Marshalltown, The Hilltoppers, V.F.W., American Legion, Noon Kiwanis Club, Lincoln Valley Golf Course and Farm Bureau. He is survived by his wife, two children; Darlene Cory (Max) of Oelwein and Gary (Kathy) of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren, Dennis Shipley (Kendra) of Marshalltown, David Shipley (Bev) of Marshalltown, Dixie Staecker (Tom) of Carlisle, Darin Shipley of Marshalltown, Douglas Shipley (Sharon) of Midland, Texas, Valerie and Matthew Fiscus of Council Bluffs; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Myrtle Hilsabeck of Union; one brother, Lloyd of Deltona, Florida; and a sister in law, Eve Elliott of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delbert and Earl; and a sister, Lois Marie. December 17, 1998 State Center Enterprise
