Description	:	Ortha Marie Carson Kersey was born in Cleveland on Feb. 6, 1921, to the late Walter E. and Pearl Dixon Carson and was a lifelong resident of the Chilcutt community. She was the oldest living member of Chilcutt United Methodist Church. She worked hard raising her family of five children, alongside her husband, “Thumper.” She took pride in planting and harvesting their vegetable garden each year and she also loved all types of flowers. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thamer Kersey; sisters, Mary Mason and Dorothy Carson; brothers, Earl Carson and G.W. (Short) Carson, and a great-grandson. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy and Betty, and sons Jackie, George and Wayne, and several grand and great grandchildren. Her sisters, Ruth Parker and Velma Boyd also survive. The Rev. Johnny Hood officiated at her memorial service with Ralph Buckner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
