Read More	Orval Burnet Senff was born 17 Feb 1910 near Hebron, Morton Co., North Dakota, to William Sherman and Nora Jane (Freel) Senff. He attended schools in the Hebron area. Orval joined the Army in WW II. Orval married Irene Sybil Barfoot October 10, 1938 in Friday Harbor,San Juan County, Washington. Irene was the daughter of Luke and Addie B.(Van Lindt) Barfoot. Orval became the Postmaster in Olga when the post office was in the south room of the Olga Store on Orcas Island, San Juan Co. Washington. Orval was a member of American Legion Post # 93, and the IOOF Lodge #283 (Past Noble Grand). Orval and Irene ran a restaurant at their home in Olga on Orcas island for many years, serving outstanding food. Their first restaurant was in their home dining room at what is now 6960 Olga Road. After they sold the house to their niece, Peggy and husband, Maurice Rodenberger, they opened a new restaurant at the top of the hill above Olga (now 6644 Olga Road)northwest of the Strawberry Cannery (later Artworks). They did the baking themselves, everything homemade. They were famous for their homemade pies and chicken from Irene's brother Jack Barfoot. Orval died 22 Apr 1981 in Anacortes, WA and was buried in Olga Doe Bay Cemetery on 24 April 1981. Services were held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound. Orval was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edward Wilbur and Howard , who died quite young. He was survived by his wife, Irene, she died 10 Jan 1984 in Olga, Washington. They had no children. He was also survived by a sister, Clara Belle Erickson of Shelton, Washington.
