Orval, son of Leonard and Emma Rothe, was born October 12, 1918 at Carbury, North Dakota and was raised there. In 1933, he moved to Newburg, North Dakota where he lived for 12 years until moving to Rolette, North Dakota in 1946. On April 3, 1947, he married Dorothy Swanson at Avilla, North Dakota. In 1953, they moved to Bottineau, North Dakota and have lived there since. Orval was a partner in the R and O Contractors Company for 38 years. He was on the City Council, the Airport Commission, and a member of the First Lutheran Church for several years. He belonged to the American Legion. He is survived by his wife at home; two daughters, Shelley Schimmelpfenning, Grand Forks, North Dakota and Cynthia Rothe, Fargo, North Dakota and one brother Milton Rothe, of Newburg, North Dakota. Also two grandchildren.
