Werling, 60, of rural Ossian died at 6 p.m. Sunday at Lutheran Hospital, where he had been a patient the past 9 1/2 weeks undergoing bypass heart surgery. Born May 30, 1931 in Wells County, he was the son of Fred and Frances Kirchner Werling. His marriage to Juanita Norris, who survives, took place April 21, 1956 at Fort Wayne. Born May 30, 1931 in Wells County, he was the son of Fred and Frances Kirchner Werling. His marriage to Juanita Norris, who survives, took place April 21, 1956 at Fort Wayne. Mr. Werling, who retired in 1985 from Navistar International, was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, near Ossian, and Waynedale American Legion. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Kevin Werling and Glen Werling, both of Ossian, and Colin Werling of Fort Wayne; a brother, Roy Werling of Ossian; a sister, Mrs. Walter (Marceil) Stoll of Ossian, and a grandson. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elzey and Haggard Funeral Home at Ossian. Services will be a 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Rev. William R. Brege officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family has designated the Bethlehem Lutheran Church organ fund as the recipient of any memorials friends may wish to make.
