He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star and the holy name society of the church. He was a Veteran of the Army National Guard and a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 174, North Star. He was a retired member of the North Star Fire Dept., a former North Star Little League coach, coordinator of the Fire Prevention Program at North Star Elementary, past parade chairman of the North Star Community Picnic and a long time league bowler at McBo's Lanes in Versailles. He was also an avid race fan and a member of Eldora Big "E" and Booster Club. He formerly owned and operated George's General Store in North Star and was currently employed at Wagner's I.G.A. meat department in Minster, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Louis Church, with Fr. David Zink officiating.
