Description	:	Orville Jay Lewis, son of C. W. and Margaret Lewis, was born April 23, 1881, on a farm west of Allerton, Ia. He passed away at York General Hospital in York, Neb., April 2, 1971, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 10 days. In 1907 he was married to Elsa S. Sapp of Allerton, Ia. W. and Margaret Lewis, was born April 23, 1881, on a farm west of Allerton, Ia. He passed away at York General Hospital in York, Neb., April 2, 1971, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 10 days. In 1907 he was married to Elsa S. Sapp of Allerton, Ia. To this union five children were born. They farmed in Wayne County, Ia., for several years. April 30, 1936, he was married to Maude Lefever of Strang, Neb., and moved to a farm in Fillmore County, Neb., near Geneva. Upon retiring they moved to York in 1947, where they resided at the time of his death. His failing health did not permit him to be active in farming the past several years, but he never lost interest in farming activities. Soon after moving to York, he united with the United Brethren Church of York, which is now the East Avenue United Methodist Church and remained a member there until his death. He was preceded in death by his father, and mother, three sisters, Icy McKeeman, Stella Hutchinson, and Ida Stewart, and a sister and brother who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife Maude, three daughters, Mrs. Lola (Everett) Moore of Spokane, Wash., Mrs. Leona Alfred of Cambria, Ia., and Mrs. Audene Paterson of Waterloo, Ia., and two sons Doyle of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Duane of Chula Vista, Cal.; two daughters-in-law Edna Lewis and Florine Lewis; one son-in-law, Everett Moore; one sister, Mrs. Bessie Jones of Allerton, Ia.; a brother-in-law, William McKeeman of Des Moines, Ia; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the East Avenue United Methodist Church in York at 2 p. m. Tuesday, April 6. Rev. Robert Holbrook officiated. Mrs. Herman Glock sang “In the Garden” and “Abide with Me.” Mrs. Dwight Walkup was organist. Pallbearers were Warren and Warren Lefever, John Edgecombe Jr., Bruce Hultine, John and Craig Lefever.
