Description	:	Oscar Herman F. Mauch was born to his loving parents John and Martha T. (Froemming) Mauch on Saturday March 7, 1914 in Dodge County Nebraska. Oscar was born the third of five siblings. Oscar was baptized at his parent's home on Friday April 10, 1914 and was confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran in Scribner, Dodge County on Sunday March 24, 1929. Mauch was born to his loving parents John and Martha T. (Froemming) Mauch on Saturday March 7, 1914 in Dodge County Nebraska. Oscar was born the third of five siblings. Oscar was baptized at his parent's home on Friday April 10, 1914 and was confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran in Scribner, Dodge County on Sunday March 24, 1929. My research found no information on his schooling. Oscar was united in marriage to Viola Backhus on Saturday November 26, 1938, over the years of marriage they were blessed with three children, a daughter and two sons. Oscar was a good father and hard worker. Oscar farmed, managed the Sinclair station, and then was employed by the Farmers Co-op. I knew Oscar when he drove a Co-op fuel delivery truck in the early sixties, he delivered fuel to my folk's farm. On an early afternoon on Monday July 2, 1962 Oscar was a lucky man when he dozed off driving his truck containing over a thousand gallons of fuel. The road was called the Blue Pole at the time, a main gravel road between Ames and Scribner. It is now called County Road 14 Boulevard. The fuel truck left the road about a half mile south from the corner of North Boulevard County, the truck rolled upside down coming to a rest in a corn field. A local farmer Cliff Lund was driving by and noticed the truck. Cliff then turned off the engine, and pulled Oscar from the truck, lucky no fire started. The estimated GPS coordinates of the accident was 41.536825, -96.646020. Oscar attended church with his family at St. Peter's Lutheran in Scribner. Oscar was a member of this church, the Lutheran Laymen's League, the voting body, choir, Lamberty Hardware bowling team, secretary of the Scribner Bowling Association, and Scribner planning board. Oscar was a lifetime resident of the Scribner area. Sadly Oscar passed at the St. Francis Hospital in West Point, Cuming County Nebraska on Tuesday December 6, 1988 at the age of 74 years, 8 months, 29 days which does not include his last day, he lived a total of 27,303 days. Oscar's funeral service was held at the St. Peter's Lutheran Church on Friday December 9, 1988 at 10:30a with the Rev. Donald Brunner officiating. Spear – Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of his arrangements. Oscar was interned in the Scribner Cemetery. Oscar's information was provided from researching many resources and my memory.
