Description	:	Oscar Jundt, 85, Aberdeen, SD and formerly of Eureka, SD died Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Ipswich, SD. Oscar Jundt, son of Helena (Muehlbeier) and Jacob Jundt, was born on December 9, 1921, 17 miles southeast of Eureka. He grew up there and attended Moscow TWSHP Rural School. Read More	Oscar Jundt, 85, Aberdeen, SD and formerly of Eureka, SD died Monday, October 8, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Ipswich, SD. Oscar Jundt, son of Helena (Muehlbeier) and Jacob Jundt, was born on December 9, 1921, 17 miles southeast of Eureka. He grew up there and attended Moscow TWSHP Rural School. On September 20, 1944, he entered the United States Army, and was stationed in the Philippines and Korea. Oscar earned the Purple Heart for wounds received August 1945 in Luzon. He married Leonora Pfeifle on February 2, 1945 at Zion Lutheran Church in Eureka. Following Oscar's honorable discharge on November 9, 1946, they settled northeast of Eureka where they were small grain farmers and raised purebred Hereford cattle. They remained on the farm until September 1984 when they moved to a new house they built in Eureka. Oscar continued living in Eureka after Mrs. Jundt died August 29, 1987. In December 2002, he moved into Aberdeen. While living in Eureka, Oscar worked as the country club groundskeeper for several years. Since July 2005, he had lived at the Golden Living Center in Ipswich. Oscar belonged to the Zion Lutheran Church, the Fred Weller American Legion Post No. 186, Eureka, SD, and the VFW Post No. 5126. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with friends at Tom's Place in Eureka. Oscar was very proud of his two year old Hereford bulls he sold each year. He is survived by one son, Larry (Carla) Jundt of Round Rock, TX; one daughter Carol (Gerald) Fischer of Aberdeen; two sisters—Olga (Bill) Pfeifle of Aberdeen and Tillie Flemmer of Eureka; five grandchildren—Tina Hoellein of Ashton,SD, Justin Fischer of Aberdeen, and Christopher, Brittany, and Bethany Jundt of Round Rock TX; two great granddaughters—Kelsey and Kaylee Hoellein of Ashton ; three sisters-in-law-Olivia Joachim of Eureka, Olga Pfeifle of El Paso, TX, and Valora Jundt of Fargo, ND; and a brother-in-law Eneil Pfeifle of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his father on February 3, 1955, his mother on June 12, 1964, his wife, three brothers (Jacob, Herbert, and Johnnie) and a grandson-in-law (Jeff Hoellein). Services will be Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the Zion American Lutheran Church, Eureka, with Pastor Linda Wahlstrom officiating. Burial, with military rites, follows at the Church Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Rodney Joachim and Dennis Pfeifle of Eureka, Duane Hoellein of Northville, SD, and Oscar's grandchildren. Lien-Straub Funeral Home of Eureka is in charge of arrangements.
