Otelia Irene Haag, daughter of Frederick and Katherine (Laib) Haag was born on February 22, 1917 in Washburn, ND. The family made their home on a farm near Washburn for several years prior to moving to town. She later moved with her family at the age of six to Eureka, SD. Tillie was united in marriage to Arthur Lutz on February 5, 1934. Two daughters were born to this union. Together they made their home and raised their family on the Lutz family farm. They remained here for many years and continued farming. Tillie's beloved husband died on June 8, 1977. At this time Tillie began making her home in Aberdeen where she remained until the time of her death. For the past several years Tillie made her home at Bethesda Home where she was loved and cared for by the excellent staff. Tillie was a wonderful cook and loved to travel. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting in her free time. Tillie cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared Tillie's life are her two daughters, Marlene (Jerome) Ketelhut, Aberdeen and Debra Keal, Ventura, CA; grandchildren Daryl (Lori) Burgard, Tim Burgard, Bryan Burgard, Allison (Oscar) Cruz and Robert Keal, great grandchildren, Stephanie Burgard, Stacey Burgard, Tyson Burgard, Dustin Burgard, Michael Burgard, Kylie Cruz and Carter Cruz and great great grandchildren, Reily Burgard, Alivia Burgard and Bryson Burgard. Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters and one brother.
