Funeral services for Mr. Splinter will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Bartlesville at the First Christian Church. Graveside committal rites will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Aurora Cemetery in Aurora, Nebraska. Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Military rites by Lester S. Harter Post #42 Aurora American Legion. OTIS LEONARD SPLINTER Mr. Splinter was born September 6, 1909, in Hamilton County, Nebraska, the son of Julius Frederick and Myrtle (Pollard) Splinter. Following his normal schooling, he graduated from Cotner College in Lincoln, NE with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1932, and the University of Nebraska in 1948 with a degree in Architecture. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II and retired from the Air Force Reserves in 1969 as a Master Sergeant. He and Lois Leavitt were united in marriage August 9, 1946 in Lincoln, NE. Mr. and Mrs. Splinter made their home in Bartlesville in 1949. Mr. Splinter worked as an engineer with an engineering firm in Tulsa, retiring in 1969. He later worked for Phillips Petroleum Company, prior to his second retirement. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Air Force Sergeants Association and Architect Association. Memorials in Mr. Splinter's name have been established and those who wish to contribute in his memory may do so to either the First Christian Church Abiding Memorial Fund, 520 S.E. Osage, Bartlesville, OK 74003; or the First Christian Church Abiding Memorials Fund, Aurora, NE 68818. Mr. Splinter is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Lois (Leavitt) Splinter of Bartlesville, OK; two sons and daughters-in-law, Garth Splinter, M.D. and his wife Michele, of Oklahoma City and Stephen L. and Adrienne Splinter of Centerville, UT; two daughters, Shirley Reddell of Poplar Bluff, MO and Beth Ann Smith and her husband Steven, of Salina, OK; a sister, Genevieve Wilshusen of Aurora; a sister-in-law, Lucille Splinter of York and eight grandchildren.
