Otto was born September 14, 1896 at Iowa City, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Bertha Schmidt) Siegling. In 1902 he moved with his parents and siblings to Burdette Township, Hand County, South Dakota. He married Pearl Burton, daughter of Arthur and Nina (Evenson) Burton, on January 22, 1919 in Miller. Pearl died September 21, 1921, and their daughter, Vina died October 6, 1921, just 12 days before her second birthday, and 15 days following her mother's death. Otto never re-married. He is survived by a sister, Esther (Walter) Schultz, Tulare, and 20 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and daughter in 1921; his father, April 27, 1936 and mother, December 30, 1942; brother, Edwin, March 1, 1937; sister, Clara (Otto C.)
