Otto and Viola are the parents of three sons: Bernard John Edward ******** Sioux Center News; January 27, 1988 Otto Kettler, 93, of Alton died Sunday in the Orange City Municipal Hospital after a brief illness. Services were Wednesday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton. Burial was in the parish cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by Floyd Post 200, American Legion. Mr. Kettler was born January 7, 1895 in Cottonville to Bernard and Christine (Brehm) Kettler. He moved to Alton with his parents at the age of 5 where he was raised and educated. In 1912 he began employment with the Alton Post Office as a clerk and graduated with the class of 1913 at St. Mary’s Academy at Alton. He served in the U.S. Army from 1918 to 1919. He returned to Alton and resumed his employment at the post office. On October 3, 1932 he married Viola Perlot in Winnebago, Nebraska. He retired as assistant post master in 1966. Hr served as Alton city clerk for many years. Mr. Kettler was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Rosary Society of the Church. He was a member of Floyd Post 200, American Legion of Alton and Knights of Columbus of Le Mars. Survivors include his wife, Viola; three sons, Bernard, John and Edward; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Joseph, Bernard (in infancy), Alexius, Leo, Frank, and Oswald; and seven sisters, Mrs. Abert (Bertha) Probst, Mary Rose Kettler, Mrs. Joe (Clara) Fath, Mrs. Ed (Alma) Schneider, Mrs. Joe (Eleanor) Mousel, Saverna Kettler and Mrs. Albert (Margaret) Probst.
