Jan 27, 1893, Owen Lewis aged 71 years, 1 month, 18 days. Deceased was born in Shelby county, Indiana, December 9th, 1821, and came to Iowa March 20, 1837. He was married to Miss Delilah Jackson May 28th, 1844. To this union was born eleven children, 4 sons and 7 daughters, two sons and one daughter died in infancy leaving to mourn their loss his companion and 8 children. Jan 27, 1893, Owen Lewis aged 71 years, 1 month, 18 days. Deceased was born in Shelby county, Indiana, December 9th, 1821, and came to Iowa March 20, 1837. He was married to Miss Delilah Jackson May 28th, 1844. To this union was born eleven children, 4 sons and 7 daughters, two sons and one daughter died in infancy leaving to mourn their loss his companion and 8 children. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1853 and remained a member until his death. He was a good neighbor loved and respected by all who knew him. The funeral took place from his late home Jan. 29, Rev. Geo. W. Barber, of Selma, conducting the service, after which he was laid to rest in the Bethel cemetery. Died 28 Jan 1893 per Iowa Deaths and Burials 1850-1990. (FHL Film #969376) I am aware that Owen's marker reads 1892, as does most of the Family Group Sheets that I can find. However, based on the above, I have opted to record his date of death as 1893 as I believe it to be correct. Will gladly correct if more satisfactory evidence arises - JDN
