Description	:	OBITUARY Taken from the Tecumseh Chieftain, Sept. 18, 1997, Owen Robert Beethe, son of Robert and Rosina Marquardsen Beethe, was born May 27, 1926 on a farm southwest of Elk Creek, NE. He was baptized July 4, 1926 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, rural Elk Creek, NE. by Rev. Iddo C. Heinike. Owen's sponsors were George Johnson and John Buethe. Owen attended Dist. 30, or the Beethe School, and was confirmed March 17, 1940 by Pastor Enno Schuelke at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. He was a member there all his life. ... He married to Nelva Holthus Jan. 5, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran (Stone) Church. 8 children were born to this union. Owen was a farmer his whole life, but it was his Hereford cattle that he truly loved. He and his wife Nelva went on a Hereford Tour the saturday before his death. Owen died Thursday afternoon Sept. 11, 1997 at his farm home north of Steinauer, Ne. of a heart attack. Survivors include his wife, Nelva, his children. Carolyn Beethe, Omaha; Jeanette Heins and husband, Larry, David City, Joyce Jelinek and husband, Tom , Brainard; John Beethe and wife Beth, Tecumseh; Kathy Rempe and husband Dale, Lincoln; Susan Briggs and husband, Jon, Lincoln; Linda Schulze and husband Tim, Hordville; and Dale Beethe, Ord; his grandchildren: Ranae Smith and husband George of Stapleton, Greg Kozisek, Brainard; Sarah Jelinek, Ceresco; Brad Jelinek, Brainard; Ben Beethe, Lincoln; Abby and Oliva Beethe, Tecumseh; Brian Terrill, Lincoln; Karen and Jenna Rempe, Lincoln; Beran Briggs, Lincoln; Caleb Schulze, Hordville Step grandchildren, Cas Briggs, Jody Briggs, Brandy Briggs, Mike Briggs, Lindoln; step great grandchild Chris Blevens, Lincoln; and aunt, Adela Marquardsen of Tecumseh. Owen is also survived by his sisters; Mildred Luedders and husband Lavern, Pawnee City; Norma Kettelhake and husband Arnold, Eagle. Lois Clement and husband Rudy, Phoenix, AZ; and Gladys Doerr and husband, Mel, Ralston; his brothers Glenn Beethe and wife, Ellen, Elk Creek; and Lloyd Beethe and wife Marian, Tecumseh: sister-in-law Alice Beethe of Elk Creek. Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 15 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Interment was in the church cemetery.
