Description	:	Glenn W. Beethe was born to Robert C. and Rosina (Marquardsen) Beethe on March 24, 1933 on the family farm in Pawnee County, Nebraska. He was baptized April 26, 1933 and confirmed March 30, 1947 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, Nebraska. He attended the Beethe School District # 30 through the fourth grade and St. Peter's Parochial School thru the eighth grade. Glenn then began farming with his father on the Beethe homestead. He was baptized April 26, 1933 and confirmed March 30, 1947 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Elk Creek, Nebraska. He attended the Beethe School District # 30 through the fourth grade and St. Peter's Parochial School thru the eighth grade. Glenn then began farming with his father on the Beethe homestead. In addition to farming, Glenn shelled corn for others and also trucked livestock and grain for many years. He was united in marriage to Ellen A. Holthus on September 15, 1953 at the St. John's Lutheran (Stone) Church, rural Auburn, Nebraska. To this union four children were born. Ellen passed away September 4, 2006. Glenn served his country during the Korean Conflict from April of 1953 to March of 1955. He received basic training at Ft. Leonardwood, MO. He worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He attained the rank of Corporal at the time of his honorable discharge. He was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where he held various offices in the church, 15 years on church council, as an elder, trustee and on the finance committee. He also served on school board for Elk Creek High School and the Farmer's Union Co-op Board. Glenn was a charter member of the Tracy-Bates American Legion Post # 370 of Elk Creek. Farming and agriculture were his first love, but in his spare time and after retirement, Glenn enjoyed playing cards and checking out the crops in the area. He became a resident of Ridgeview Towers in Tecumseh in 2015. He passed away at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh on February 6, 2018 at the age of 84 years
