PAUL AND GUDNY ANDERSON FAMILY Gudny and Paul, along with their parents, immigrated to Canada from Iceland in 1888. Paul was 10 years old at the time and Gudny Adalbjorg was six months. Paul was born in Vesturlandi Axfirdi, Iceland in 1877, to Andres Johanesson and Valgerdur Bjornsdottir. Paul's family settled on a homestaed in Bru in the municipality of Argyle. Gudny was born in 1877 in Breidumyri, Volpnafordi, Iceland, to Albert and Augusta Johnson, who settled their family in Minnesota, USA. In later years Paul settled in Seattle, Washington, USA, where he was employed as a ship's carpenter. It was there that he met Gudny (known as "Winnie" to her family and friends). They were married in Ballard, Washington in 1901. Returning home to Bru in 1902, they settled on his father's farm where they lived for 43 years. Family life centred around Bru Hall where social activities and community affairs were held. The children received their education at Frey and Oliver Schools. During Paul's younger years, he played with the local band and took part in different organizations. He also belonged to the church choir until the time of his retirement. Besides raising her large family Gudny was active in the Ladies Aid and was greatly interested in all community affairs. Gudny died in 1962, and Paul in 1964 Paul and Gudny had 10 children.
