LUND NEWCASTLE, Neb.—Palmer M. Lund, 74, died Monday, Oct. 30, 1994 in rural Newcastle, Neb. Services were Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Congregational United Church of Christin Newcastle, with the Rev. Ted Youngerman officiating. Burial was in the Newcastle Cemetery. He was born in Maskell, Neb., Jan. 10, 1921, the son of Olaf and Emma (Colbenson) Lund. He graduated from Masskell High School in 1939, then worked in trucking for 12 years. He married Elsie Martinsen on June 1, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church in Maskell. The couple farmed in the Newcastle area from 1950 until his retirement in 1988 when they moved to Newcastle. Lund had served as county supervisor for two terms and was serving his third term at the time of his death. He was a member of the Congregational Church of Christ and served as a UCC trustee. He was District County II supervisor and served on the Region IV board of directors. He served on the board of directors for Heartland and for SIMPCO. He was a member of the steering committee of the Newcastle-Vermillion bridge, and a Newcastle-Vermillion Bridge Corp. director. He was a member of the ASCS county board, member of the NRA, and past noble grand of the IOOF Lodge. Survivors are his wife; one son, Rod, of Newcastle; two daughters, Sheryl and her husband Robert Anderson of Newcastle, and Linda and Carroll Fountain of Lincoln, Neb.; five brothers, Parker of Unionville, Ind., Donald and Peg of Rock Springs, Duane and Judy of Arizona City, Ariz., Conrad and Vi of Bradenton, Fla., and Llaurel of Lincoln; two sisters, Char Britton and Lynette and her husband, Ken Vajarsky, of Hometown, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Claire; and two sisters, LaVon Lund and Twila Olsen.
